Arthur Kirkland - England 95v538

Name – Arthur Kirkland
Country of Origin – United Kingdom; specifically England
Age – 27
Birthday – April 23
Job – Director of the PEC

Personality – Foul-tempered and quick to argue, Arthur is not an easy person to get along with. He is easily frustrated by stupid people and made up words like vodkascones, along with anything else that may seek to ruin his day. He has a very dry and ironic sense of humor, and can be seen chuckling a bit after an ironic kill. He’s a bit of a bitter old man, often pausing to reminisce about the early days of the PEC, remembering each and every one of the members when the Corps started. Arthur sees the PEC as his responsibility, as his life. Therefore, if a member is lost he sees it as a personal failure, and is known to hunt down the families of those lost to offer condolences and something of the lost agent for the family to remember them by. The PEC is the closest to a family that he's ever had, and he will do anything to protect the community.

Reason for Recruitment – At first glance, Arthur doesn’t seem like the kind of person to work as an assassin. However, the three teenagers stabbed to death after raping two of his friends would say otherwise. He was caught in the act, at the age of fifteen, while trying to hide the bodies. He confessed everything to officers once they brought him back to the station, and seemed unbothered by his crime. His reasoning stood clearly; they did wrong, and had to be punished in an effective manner. He was imprisoned until he was twenty-one, when one of Her Majesty’s agents came to him and proposed the PEC, allowing him to escape prison and still punish those who did wrong.

Appearance – Arthur is a relatively small man, five-foot five, and rather scrawny, further accentuated by his constant glower. His bright green eyes are often filled with frustration, and his impressive eyebrows are pulled down tight over his eyes, leading to some serious frown lines crossing his face. A mop of scraggly blonde hair sits atop his head, and has never been neat, especially since he has a habit of running his hands through it when he’s angry or frustrated. Which is all of the time.

History – Born the youngest of four, Arthur didn’t care much for being around others. His older brothers were given attention and soaked it up, but when his parents would try to offer their surly toddler anything, they would find themselves pushed away, a stubborn look on his face. They assumed it was a phase, and left him alone, knowing one day he would accept their affection. That day never came. They wrecked one late night, driving home on the wet London streets, both passing away quickly and painlessly. Thus, the four siblings were transplanted away from each other, each sent to a different relative’s home to be raised and taken care of. Arthur stayed in London with a distant aunt who only gave him enough attention to give him pocket money and food. He learned quickly how the world worked, observing the other children around him and taking in everything he could. He gradually earned friends, people who saw past his grumpy shield and sought to be with him more. However, this was abruptly ended when he learned about the rape and resulting suicide of two of his closest friends. When nothing happened to the teenagers responsible, Arthur took it on himself to deal justice.

And deal justice he did. He mutilated the private bits of all three teens, and then killed them, dragging the bodies to the Thames to dispose of the bodies, only to be caught right as he was getting ready to toss them in. He gave himself up to the police, confessing, but never regretting anything he did, knowing that justice, in its own twisted way, had been served. Just as he served the next six years of his life in a maximum security prison. He passed his time by gathering as many books as possible, reading and devouring each one in a manner reminiscent of a student passing their time in a high class school. On his twenty-first birthday, he was approached by a member of Her Majesty’s MI6 and informed of a chance to get out of prison. He took to it, and became the first member of the PEC.

He has managed to stay alive throughout all five years, and accomplished many different assassinations; his preferred method is to stab the victim, but he’s not above shooting or doing other creative things. He’s seen his fair share of death, some victims, some friends, and perhaps a lover or two, and seems to be reasonably unaffected by the thought. However, on a mission gone horribly wrong, he lost his partner and his left arm was seriously injured. He spent the next few weeks in the hospital, doped up on pain medication as the nurses and doctors scrambled to save the arm, even going as far as to call a doctor from outside of the community in to help. The arm was saved, but Arthur developed an addiction to the pain-killers given to him in the hospital, something he hasn’t been able to kick and is often confronted about by other members of the community.

There has been talk throughout the PEC of a possible retirement for their longest-remaining member, who currently takes on only the missions that he wants to, and can often be found organizing things and running the PEC. However, whenever Arthur hears word of these rumors, he tends to take on dangerous assignments on his own, just to prove to the community that he’s perfectly capable of keeping up with all of the newer members.

RP Sample – Arthur grumbled as he made his way back to his office, slamming the door shut behind himself. He threw himself into his desk chair, wincing when his left arm slammed into the back of the chair. He yanked open his desk drawer and yanked out a little orange bottle, twisting the lid and swallowing down three of the tiny grey Oxycodone pills. He set it down and leaned back, taking deep breaths and calming himself.

He wasn’t too old for this job, he wasn’t. At twenty-seven, he was still in his prime, still perfectly capable of taking care of targets and running the Corps. Where did these new members get off, mentioning that he should look into retiring before he hurt himself even worse? A dark look crossed his face and he spun around in his chair, looking out the windows at the rain once again pouring down around them. He was still useful, and they all knew it.

He just needed to show them again.
